What is the definition of an air brush tattoo?
Airbrush tattoos are applied with an airbrush motored by a oxygen tank and are usually sprayed through a type of stencil onto the surface of the skin with a specially formulated paint. Airbrush tattoos are made up of paint that sits on top of the skin. They were first developed by movie makers and makeup artists who wanted longer lasting, realistic looking temporary tattoos for their actors to wear. They were just perfect for this as the actor could go home at the end of the day, shower, and come back the next day with their tattoos looking exactly like they did the day before!!
How to look after your tattoo
- Baby powder helps absorb oils and perspiration, powder whenever possible, especially after a shower.
- Do not rub your tattoo. If wet, gently pat dry.
- Avoid contacting painted areas with oils, lotions, bug spray and other alcohol-based products. Also avoid using moisturising soaps or oils on or near the painted area.
- Avoid wearing tight clothing over the painted area, as chafing will occur. Remember, it's only paint.
- When washing hair, rinse away from painted area so shampoo and conditioner won't cascade over the design.
- When it is time to remove your airbrush tattoo, rub with baby oil or isopropyl alcohol.
