Phil Matenga has been a qualified upholsterer for 25 years; he is dedicated to his job and will put a smile on your face. He was educated at Aranui High School in Christchurch and moved from there to Kaikoura.
During his time at school he wanted to find out about upholstery. One day he asked his teacher and she told him to go over to the Avondale Upholstery company to check it out. Later on he was lucky to get an apprenticeship there.
This business has been running for 12 years, and is based in Kaikoura. Phil Matenga has been running the business by himself for the last few years and is very popular in the community. He guarantees you will be happy with the furniture he produces. He works at home in his own garage.
In the future he plans to make and sell his own furniture which will be influenced by Maori cultural aspects.
