Kaikoura (Kai for food, Koura for crayfish) has always been famous for the rich marine life that abounds in the area. For many years people thought it was just a pit stop for fuelling up, but today people know Kaikoura as a vibrant and amazing place that has great fishing and diving. Kaikoura is located between Blenheim and Christchurch, it is 2 hours from Christchurch and 1.5 hours from Blenheim.
Whether fishing is at the wharf, on the beach by the railway station, in Lyell Creek, or the Kahutara River mouth south of the town, there are plenty of sea or freshwater fishing spots for the angler to have a go.
