All about chocolate

Chocolate is a substance which is made up of a mixture of cocoa beans, milk powder, sugar and lecithin. The cocoa bean is found in South Africa and was discovered thousands of years ago. Chocolate (otherwise known as xocolatl) was discovered by Mr Christopher Columbus in 1502. The bean was found on the island of Guanaja and from then on chocolate or xocolatl was known as brown gold.

Chocolate is known for making children hyperactive and should really only be a treat that you have every now and again. Children for centuries have loved chocolate. Easter is an occasion that chocolate is given to children to reinforce the Easter bunny idea. Parents for decades have been giving children chocolate on this special date. Children now expect their parents to give them chocolate at Easter. Companies like Cadburys look forward to Easter as this is the time of year when the company makes the most money, because parents rush out and buy their children chocolate so that they are not left out.

Chocolate is known all over the world for its divine taste and texture. Chocolate should only be a treat though because it is high in fat and sugar content. People that overindulge in chocolate and other sugary foods could experience heart problems or even diabetes as a result of overindulging.
